Medicare Gap Insurance Plans
My husband and I had my parents living with us during their retirement years. That was definitely an eye-opening experience for us. We saw a glimpse of what our life would be like once we reach our retirement years. Their health was deteriorating in their monthly income barely allowed them to make ends meet at the end of each month because of the mounting medical bills due to their health. I was determined to help my parents have a better quality of life and decided to do some research with regard to supplementing their Medicare coverage. In my research I found that there were Medicare supplements available to them that would help bridge the gap between traditional Medicare and their out-of-pocket expenses. In addition to that discovery I also learned that they’re attending physician was also a Medigap provider so there was no need for them to find a new doctor, which made them very happy.
As I was searching online I found that there were numerous plans that were available to my parents regardless of where they lived, Medicare supplemental insurance Pennsylvania had the exact same coverage as the state they lived in, which was Texas. And I found that if they travel the coverage went with them they did not have to be concerned about not having coverage when they visited family out-of-state. As I said Medicare gap insurance plans are exactly the same meaning that they are standardized by the government, so regardless of which plan you choose it’s the same from carrier to carrier. I found that the Medigap rates will vary from carrier to carrier. So the best thing for us to do was to go with a major insurance company that offers the cheapest rate so that it would fit in to my parents budget.
I was able to do the Medicare advantage plan comparisons on the Internet so that saved me a lot of time because I did not have to make telephone calls. We were able to make a decision on the coverage that my parents wanted and needed without a lot of stress and headache. At one point however, we called 1-800-MEDIGAP because we had some questions with regard to the coverage of the plan they chose and how it pertained to my parents. We were able to get all of our questions answered and the agent helped us with the application process so that it was done and correctly.
